MERU Price Bands 2007
MERU does not charge children and families for the equipment we design and make for them, however we expect organisations such as the NHS, Local of designing and manufacturing custom made medical equipment.
To simplify MERU's charging policy we have decided to put our custom made projects into price bands. These projects are only examples of the types of projects which might fall into each price band. On receipt of a completed Referral Form, MERU will inform you of the appropriate Band.
These price Bands are not a reflection of the true cost of designing, manufacturing and testing this equipment. Research & Development is hugely expensive, but MERU typically only passes on 10 - 20% of the full cost, subsidising the rest from charitable donations.
Where MERU is making adaptations to equipment, the equipment has to be bought separately.
MERU also has a number of "off-the shelf" products for sale which are priced separately. (Note: There is no waiting list for off the shelf items) Authorities, Schools and other charities to make a contribution towards the cost.
Examples of the types of projects which might be in each Band
Band A - Free
Referrals from Families. (Projects for Funders & Service Level Agreements.)
Band B - £100
Padding / Protection for parts of the body.
Mounting for switches.
Ergonomic support for accessing switches (arm guides/trays etc).
Objects of reference (sets).
Cause and affect motivation (adapted toys etc).
Simple play equipment / toys
Band C - £250
Non-adjustable seating / bathing / toileting equipment (see Band D)
Custom controls for communication aids / PC / environmental controls
Adaptations to trikes / bikes / walkers
Music equipment
Band D - £500
Equipment that needs to be adjustable or fold up for transport.
Assessment / Diagnostic Equipment
Custom made controls for powered wheelchairs
Adaptations to electronic games controllers
Band E - £1000
Medical Equipment for hospitals to be used by large numbers of children (Some equipment for schools or hospices might also fall into this category)
